A Brief History
Frisco sits about 30 miles north of Dallas in western Collin County, with a portion extending into Denton County. The town was originally named Emerson, after a local landowner, but was renamed Frisco City in 1902 to honor the St. Louis, San Francisco and Texas Railway — popularly known as the Frisco system. For most of the 20th century it was a small agricultural community. Then the growth of Dallas and Plano pushed development northward, and Frisco was never the same. By 2000 the population had crossed 33,000. By 2025 it had crossed 245,000.
Sports City USA
No city its size has a sports footprint like Frisco’s.
